Avi Lewis' grandfather and father founded and reformed, respectively, Canada's NDP. Avi was raised steeped in politics. In the 1990s and 2000s, Avi Lewis told truth to power through TV journalism. In the 2010s, the accelerating climate crisis and government inaction forced Avi to take the leap into activism. In 2015 he co-authored The Leap Manifesto. In 2021, Avi took another leap to become the third generation of his family to run for office for Canada’s New Democrats.
